Heads up Antioch: an incredible ministry is about to blow you frontal lobe. This coming weekend, Sunday, February 26th, both in front of the church and at the Spotlight table, Transitions Global is letting you know what they are all about.
This amazing ministry was started by James and Athena Pond, co-founders of Agape Restoration Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia which serves to restore victims of sex trafficking. The ARC was primarily meeting the needs of younger children, and the Pond family saw the desperate need of a facility that serves slightly older victims, primarily the ages 14-18. So having already help establish the ARC, they set up another facility they called The Dream Home. The purpose and goal of The Dream Home "was to provide young girls approaching adulthood the skills and opportunities they needed not only to heal but to become independent adults." The Dream Home is still up and running, and after living in Cambodia for two years, the Pond family moved back to the U.S. to expand the program. Transitions Global has obviously expanded beyond just the James and Athena, and is now assisting organizations in India, Greece, Indonesia, and the United States.
Transitions Global can be summed up in it's four core values:
1) Rescue is a process, not a single event.
2) Freedom without a future is another type of slavery.
3) A girl shouldn't carry the wounds of her past.
4) Giving a girl choices and a dream restores her future.
The unique approach this ministry takes in restoring these girls lives gives unique results; results that give an unprecedented rate of success ever seen in Cambodia. We are both blessed and honored to be invited to take part in such a wonderful organization, and the missions team here at Antioch Church invites and encourages you to find out more about Transitions Global at our Spotlight Table this Sunday and, if compelled, take part in any way to further this good work along.
