KilnsCollege

In 2007, High Desert Christian College administration had achieved full state accreditation for the college and decided to turn the school over to new leadership as a strategy for further development of the school. Leadership was turned over to Antioch members Ken Wytsma, Kim Hunt, Rick Gerhardt, Mike Caba, Darcy Bridges, Lindsey Taft and Chris Stollar.

The new administration renamed the school as Kilns College. Classes for Kilns College will begin in Fall 2008. Registration will begin in August 2008.

Kilns has three main proponents: guest lectureships, community education and a yearlong pastoral internship. Students will be encouraged to enroll in general education classes at Oregon State University Cascades Campus or Central Oregon Community College while attending Bible, missions, theology, philosophy, and social justice classes at Kilns.

Faculty of the School of Theology and Missions are committed to a classical education style steeped in C.S. Lewis’ mercenary education philosophy. Each student will be assigned to a faculty mentor and a missions director who will guide the student through their education.

Community education classes will focus on missions, social justice and the arts and be open to anyone who wants to attend. The yearlong pastoral internship, called the Jericho Project, will open to students who have already completed core Kilns classes. The internship will incorporate the leadership a ministry or church outside of the school into the development of the student.
