We made it!!
This
past March 22-April 1, Alpha teamed with First Baptist Church and
Amor Ministries to go on a missions trip to Mexico. In just three
short days we were able to build two 11 X 22, two-room homes with
a slab floor, stucco-finished exterior, two windows, and a door.
The amazing thing was that the students accomplished this entirely
by hand. (Amor doesn't allow the use of power tools or generators
on the worksite.) When the houses were done they were dedicated
with the two new owners present.
Besides building the homes we were also able to host a kid's camp
for three days. This was a great opportunity to witness to the kids
and also get a chance to just play with them. There were a number
of soccer games along with crafts
and bible stories. By the end
of the week, kids were coming from miles to join in on the fun.
On the way back we took a couple of R & R days! At Huntington Beach, in California, we perfected our newly learned soccer skills and tested out our bravery on the waves. Six Flags gave our stomachs a run for their money as we enjoyed some of the craziest roller coasters most of us had ever experienced.
Many came away from the trip with not only a sense of accomplishment but also lasting friendships. Thank you to all who made this trip possible and especially for your prayers and support! We look forward to many more missions? trips in the future.
